On Tuesday, 20 August 2024, the PIKO 1000 series model was presented to the public for the first time in summery weather. The railway museum in Utrecht in the Netherlands was appropriately chosen as the venue. The 1010, the last remaining Rh 1000 locomotive, is on display there.
Representatives of the Dutch and Belgian model railway trade press were among those invited to the event, who were delighted to take the opportunity to take a first look at the new PIKO mould.
At the beginning, PIKO Product Manager Matthias Fröhlich and Wim Wolters, former PIKO sales representative and supporter, together with Harry Machiel, sales representative for the Netherlands, welcomed the visitors. The guests were then given exciting insights into the history of the locomotive and the development of the PIKO model during a presentation. Matthias Fröhlich then presented the two representatives of the railway museum present, Ms Evelien Pieterse and Mr Evertjan de Rooij, with a finished model of the attractive locomotive as a thank you for their support with the project. After the official part, all visitors were cordially invited to take photos of the PIKO novelty in front of its big sister, ask questions and take a look at the model.
The locomotive is expected to be available in three versions (DC, DC Sound and AC Sound) from the end of September 2024 from specialist model railway dealers and from PIKO directly. The models can of course be pre-ordered as usual from model railway retailers.
