Novelty 2024: Modern diesel locomotives characterise everyday freight and shunting traffic. And of course the striking DE 18 from Vossloh should not be missing here. With this locomotive, the PIKO designers have once again succeeded in realising a prototype in H0 scale with flying colours. The result is a model that excellently reproduces the overall appearance and characteristics of the DE 18 and features a multitude of details, including extremely vivid engravings of the ventilation grilles and bogies with an outstanding visual depth effect. The powerful motor with two flywheels ensures smooth running and the tractive power is increased by two diagonally arranged traction tyres. In conjunction with a digital decoder, many prototypical lighting functions can be switched. The attractive drivers cab and drivers desk lighting is a standard feature of PIKO new designs. The PIKO new construction is equipped ex works with a PSD XP sound decoder with the largest possible loudspeaker.

The model bears the fits mfx® quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Märklin digital control centres, a new fits mfx® quality mark was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone and fully passed a special mfx® test.These decoders and also the locomotives in which they are installed bear the fits mfx® quality mark, which certifies unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the fits mfx® logo now also fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
