Novelty 2025: KM 4000 diesel locomotive in the SP 9101 version. The original SP KM 4000 locomotives began their lives as almost identical triplets. But over the years they were modified and differed significantly from each other.The true-to-original PIKO replicas show the locomotives as they were in the mid-1960s and take into account the structural and color features. These include side air intake grilles, filter boxes and roof vents as well as exposed exhaust systems with flap valves. The locomotive also precisely reproduces the color features of the SP 9101.The powerful motor in combination with the perfectly balanced flywheels ensures that the locomotive runs smoothly. The various light functions are designed using the latest LED technology and can be easily controlled digitally using a suitable decoder. The sound versions are factory-equipped with a sound decoder and matching loudspeaker. The locomotives do not have an NEM coupling shaft. The model bears the “fits mfx®” quality mark. In order to make digital decoders reliably usable for all users of the current Märklin digital command stations, a new quality mark “fits mfx®” was introduced together with Märklin and other manufacturers. This can only be used by digital decoders that have undergone and fully passed a special mfx® test. These decoders and also the locomotives in which they are installed bear the “fits mfx®” quality mark, which certifies unrestricted mfx® functionality. This means that PIKO products with the “fits mfx®” logo now also fully support the diverse functions of mfx®.
