The first special design to be presented in 1965 was the V 180 059 with a new design concept featuring a roof and bulkhead made of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester and a glare-free front window design with steeply sloping front windows. In addition to a long-term test of the usability of plastics, the aim was also to achieve a more attractive appearance. In 1966, two more locomotives with fiberglass-reinforced polyester canopies followed. The model reproduces the 118 131-2 of the DR in Ep.IV.
